Nigerians abroad seek investment opportunities in
C/River
No fewer than 150 Nigerians living abroad have arrived in Calabar to attend
the Cross
River Third Diaspora Day/Fourth Science and Technology Conference.
This was disclosed by Mr Gerald Adah, the Special Adviser to the Governor
on Investment
Promotions at a meeting with members of the organised private sector in Calabar.
Adah said it was necessary to create the desired interface between government
and
stakeholders in commerce for the state's economic growth and development.
"The government is eager to see the economy of the state grow and we
feel we can achieve this
through investment promotion, " he said.
The special adviser expressed government's resolve to strengthen the private
sector by
working out programmes that would create an enabling environment for business
to thrive.
He said an information data base would be established at the end of the two-day
conference to provide information on available investment opportunities.
He said the state government would establish ''a one-stop investment centre
that will make it easy for investments and businesses to thrive."
Chief Iniobong Jackson, the President of the Manufacturers Association of
Nigeria (MAN) in Akwa Ibom and Cross River, commended the state government
for ‘’its friendly public-private partnership disposition.’’
He stressed the need for government ‘’to facilitate investment
promotions by involving Nigerians in diaspora.’’
In his speech, Mr Ephraim Eyo, the Chairman of Miners Association of Nigeria
in Cross River, urged the government’’ to encourage the private
sector to go into businesses, which required
huge investments.’’
