Zain/MTV Advance Warning Show kicks-off

MUSIC enthusiasts and fans of the on-going Zain/MTV Advance Warning reality television show had a wao! time over the weekend as two promising artistes, W4 and G.I Joe went against each other lyrically in their quest to become favourites in the exciting musical contest.

Zain/MTV Advance Warning is a Television programme and multimedia campaign which penetrates deep into vibrant Nigerian entertainment scene, identifying Nigeria's rising contemporary music stars. The show will be aired on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) by 7.30-8.00pm; STV and AIT by 6.00-6.30pm on Sunday.
W4 whose real names are Wale Adepoju is a Rhythm and Blues artiste, vocalist and also a prolific song-writer. He has worked with several frontline artistes including 2face Idibia, Sound Sultan, Rugged Man, 9ice, Black Tribe, Spyda Man, 2 Short and Tinny from Ghana amongst others.

W4 rose to the rank of a professional artiste in 2005 when he released his first single entitled Temperature, a hit tract from his debut album also dubbed Temperature. The album has other tracks like Solo, Too Kpokpos, Lover love, Am in Love and Amen. It was released under Hypodrum Records in collaboration with Hypertek Entertainment.

On the other hand, G.I Joe, a 300 level student in Wisconsin University, Ghana, prides himself as an artiste with a split personality: a rapper in one part and a singer in another. However, many rap enthusiasts regards G.i. Joe as a rapper with a corky attitude; a good creator of rhythmic symmetry between Nigerian pidgin English and local slang.
G.I Joe who is expected to release two albums this year says he loves the good life, money, intelligent people and pretty women. He is set to bring all his interest to bear at the contest.

Pundits in the music industry believe that W4 battle with G.I Joe this Sunday on the Zain/MTV Advance Warning show will be off the hook, a delight to behold. The Television show debuted last Sunday with Durella and O.D facing each other.

Norman Moyo, Chief Marketing Officer, Zain Nigeria revealed that the talent show initiative is borne out of a sincere desire to create a perfect platform for talented, upcoming Nigerian artistes to ride on.
“At Zain, we understand that Nigerians are very passionate about music and that there are so many Nigerians talented in the art of music. What we intend to achieve with this initiative is to create an enabling platform for talented music artistes who may not have the finance to realize their dreams. We are interested in identifying and developing the next Tuface, the next D'Banj, 9ice etc,” remarked Moyo.
