Taiwo betrayed me –Siasia

MORE than one month after curtains were drawn on the 2008 Olympic Games, coach of the silver-winning Nigerian soccer team, Samson Siasia, says he is still unhappy with invited players who failed to honour their call-up for the games, especially Marseille defender Taye Taiwo.

Siasia revealed in an interview that he was left confused by the player's failure to show up for the Olympic Games.
He said: "I have to confess that I am still disappointed that some of the players I put my plans on did not turn up for the competition.

"It was hard for me, especially Taye Taiwo, who promised me all along that he would be available for the Olympics.

"I went ahead to put his name on the final list, only for him not to turn up.
"I was then left with only 17 players, and had to start begging FIFA to allow one of the alternate players come up.
“But, I say if Messi was able to come for Argentina, Taye should have come for Nigeria."
