Intercontinental Bank takes over Heathrow Airport branding

INTERCONTINENTAL Bank Plc, one of Nigeria’s leading banks has partnered with JC Decaux, a brand franchise company for Heathrow airport branding. The deal involves the booking of a multi-million pound, multi-format year-long outdoor advertising campaign at the London Heathrow airport. The deal was brokered by Strategic Media Solutions; a Nigerian based Company. The partnership which heralded the massive branding covered terminals 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. In all, the bank has over 50 exposures spanning Squares, Zonal Beacons, Digital Dropdown and Premiere Billboards spread through the arrival, departure and baggage hall sections of the airport terminals.

The campaign theme Happiness …an Intercontinental Language. Underscores the bank’s slogan of “Happy Customer Happy Bank”.

The branding is coming on the heels of the bank’s European subsidiary recently commissioned in the UK. At the colourful ceremony, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), Professor Chukwuma Soludo commended Intercontinental Bank for its consistent stellar performance over the years saying the Bank was among the emerging Nigerian multinationals driving the private sector led economic growth in the country.
The Managing Director of JC Deacux, Julie France had at the inspection of the exposures commended management of the bank for the feat and also congratulated the bank on its debut into the UK market. Mr. France observed that Intercontinental Bank’s outreach signals a match towards aggressive global expansion of the brand.
“By any standard, this is an exceptional Outdoor advertising campaign, encompassing many of Heathrow’s most sought-after sites in a year-long holding, on a scale that is unprecedented. We are delighted to welcome Intercontinental Bank as a new advertiser at the airport”. remarked an official of JC Decaux.

The Bank’s Group Chief Executive, Dr. Erastus Akingbola said the new corporate identity was driven by its quest for leadership in the Nigerian and African banking terrain, adding that the identity represents the stronger and more dominant role the bank now plays in the global banking landscape.

According to Dr. Akingbola, the bank will leverage on its advertising campaign at Heathrow Airport to reach an international audience of investors, adding that London is a strategic addition to Intercontinental Bank's global expansion drive at providing international investors access to investment opportunities in Nigeria and across the African continent.
