Igwe Gabosky appointed patron of AMJ

THE Association of Movie Journalists (AMJ) penultimate week appointed foremost filmmaker and international businessman, Igwe Gabriel Onyi Okoye, a.k.a Gaboaky as a member of its board of patrons.
The honour was bestowed on him in Lagos, when select members of the executives of AMJ led by its president, Mr. Stanley U. Okoronkwo paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

On the reasons the association decided to honour the producer of the blockbuster epic movie; “Battle of Musanga” with such position, Mr. Okoronkwo noted that it found Igwe Okoye to be one of the few consistent practitioners in Nollywood who has worked tirelessly to raise standards in the movie industry.

Accepting the appointment, Igwe Okoye thanked the body for recognizing his input so far.
He pledged to render both moral and financial support to the body to ensure that its laudable programmes are pursued vigorously.

In another development, the association took a solid stand at supporting the new film distribution framework, recently enforced by the Nigerian Film & Video Censors Board, describing it as the perfect panacea to the challenges confronting Nollywood.

This support was given in an interview granted and relayed on Galaxy Television by the president and the secretary-general respectively of the AMJ, Messrs. Stanley U. Okoronkwo and Fred Iwenjora.
