NEGLECTED and downtrodden, over a hundred orphans in Kano, Enugu and Plateau states have received nutritional enhancements courtesy Royco Seasoning (-a Unilever brand) and Rotary international club. The nutritional company Royco began by organizing parties for these children in line with its second phase of the Royco seasoning campaign tagged “spread the yum! Yum! of home”. These children who may have suffered developmentally and physically delayed due to poor nutrition and lack of a stable, loving environment were given first aid boxes, bed sheets and pillow cases, various sizes of cooking utensils, food items and other branded items while all the children received goody bags branded t- shirts, biros, pencils, exercise books, cups and plates and more.
During the party at Enugu, the Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Vivian Eze described orphans as vulnerable children but gave thanks to Royco and Rotarians for partnering to alleviate plight of the children. For Mrs Helen Danladi, the permanent secretary, ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development plateau state, her comment reads “the fact that they are orphans doesn't mean that they are nobody hence the effort of Unilever Royco is a commendable one.
