Traditional ruler in soup over alleged kidnapping
A traditional ruler in Ogun state is now being quizzed for his suspected involvement
in kidnapping.
The arrest of the monarch, whose name is being withheld, was announced in
Abeokuta by the state police commissioner, Mr Solomon Olusegun.
He told journalists that the traditional ruler ‘’is now being
detained along with some other suspects over the matter.’’
Stating that nobody is above the law, the police commissioner regretted that
‘’the incidence of kidnapping has been on the increase in the
state.’’
He advised the citizenry ‘’to be vigilant while boarding commercial
vehicles.’’
Specifically, he warned those who were in the habit of asking for free ride
to
desist but ‘’to enter motor- parks where they would be more secured.’’
He advised commuters ‘’to always check occupants of vehicles to
ascertain
their behaviour before boarding.’’
Pointing out that "the best law of security is self preservation,"
the police commissioner
advised people to make personal security a priority.
Meanwhile, further investigations into circumstances of the arrest of the
royal father are still progressing.
