NOBEL & Lesley Consulting Limited, an organization comprising experts
in SME management consultancy has advocated effectiveness in business and
other corporate activities, through strategic time management.
The company made this advocacy though its one-day seminar on Personal Effectiveness
through Strategic Time Management which was organized recently at the Lagos
Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
While stating the achievements aimed at through this seminar, the Vice Chairman
of the company, Mr. Felix Amadi said, “There are two things we are trying
to use this seminar to achieve, one, is to emphasise training. And that is
emphasising the need for training of staffs of any organization, because any
organization that does not train its staffs is doomed. Organizations that
train their staffs have a very strong eye into thee future. Secondly, time
is also everything. Organizations that are able to manage time effectively
have strength. Those that cannot mange time effectively have every cause to
regret because there will be gaps in their operations, in their performances
created by time. And that will mean erosion of returns, erosion of profit
and loss of focus, because the moment you sop utilizing your time it means
that you are looking else where. So, time management orientation is what we
are also targeting at making operators to have.
Mr. Amadi lamented that SMES have so many problems, saying, “The skills
they need in managing their businesses is generally not there, the skill to
access funds is not there. Even if they access funds, the skills needed to
manage theses funds effectively is also not there. So, SMEs need a lot of
capacity building. Beyond all these, they also have problems of marketing,
problems of information, and quite a number of other things, but I think that
with time, SMEs in Nigeria will catch up with the standards of other SMEs
all over the world.”
He assured that Nobel & Lesley has a very clear programme for SMEs, that,
what the company has for them is a linkage program which connects SMEs to
financial institutions.
“When we involve those ones that are ready, we get them connected with
the financial institutions which will get them registered and after some time,
they will begin to get their funding from these financial institutions. And
as time goes one, they will have a ground on which their funding will give
them a good footing to the ground after which they will be allowed to operate
in liberty”, Amadi explained.
The Executive Director, Technical, Niger Insurance PLC, Mr. Andrew Nwaujo, who was a special guest at the seminar, lauded the firm for a job well done and its impact made in the industry through their programmes.
According to him, “Some of my staffs participated in this programme recently on the insurance aspect and they had a very wonderful testimony of it. There was a very good recommendation which impressed me so much for the first time. You can see for yourself that it is unlike some of the consultancy firms we have these days who are just looking for something to do; Nobel & Lesley is not as those ones. As a matter of fact, they have a very good foundation, good start up and a good vision for the Nigerian business entities. I believe they are treading the right path. I will advice them to strive harder to maintain this concept, because it is easy to start up, but in some cases, difficult to maintain that which has been started.”
The Niger Insurance boss however urged the firm not to relent in their efforts
to continue to support the companies in different industries through their
trainings and orientation programmes, saying that with this, they will definitely
achieve their goals. And by this also, they would have paid their dues.
While also delivering a lecture at the seminar on the theme: Training as a
Coefficient of Organizational Growth, Dr. C. Onukogu who also is a consultant
for Nobel & Lesley spoke extensively on personal contribution and impact
making to the organization where one finds himself at any period of time.
According to him, “Many employees don't know how to bring in solution oriented ideas to their organizations. They either flow along with the decisions and ideas presented by the management of the company even when it is not universally right or healthy for the company's growth and development.” Onukagu admonished that employees and even management personnel should endeavour to throw lights on every dark aspect or area of his organization's corporate cultures.
He also urged that the way forward in an organization, among others is the ability to see beyond the ideas and concept of the decision makers of the organization
