Africa's air transport industry needs adequate dynamism — Experts
EXPERTS in the Nigerian aviation industry have emphasized the need for adequate
dynamism in Africa's air transport industry if the industry must thrive to
meet up with global standard.
The emphasis was laid while citing the benefits of the upcoming 14th edition
of the yearly Aviation & Allied Business Leadership Conference slated
for August 25 - 26, 2008 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South
Africa, with the theme: "Aviation In Africa: Changing Times, Changing
Strategies".
While speaking at the pre-conference recently in Lagos, the Publisher of Aviation
& Allied Business journal, Capt. Edward Boyo, said that Africa's air transport
industry needs adequate dynamism in the face of fluid global aviation industry
benchmarks as a way of remaining competitive and growth-oriented.
Capt. Boyo also explained that there is the critical need to attune the industry
in Africa to be adequately responsive to evolutions and stringent benchmarks
arising in the global aviation industry.
According to him, "Considering that the dynamic complexities inherent
in the air trans port industry make players in the industry prone to newer
and recurrent challenges at various levels, it becomes imperative to monitor
such trends and essentially provide suitable or adequate responses to such
challenges in order to ensure the sustained progressive growth of the industry
in Africa."
He also added that the need to respond effectively to environmental questions,
the need for policy convergence and innovations, the need to create a knowledge-based
aviation industry in Africa and the need for improved technology adaptation
make it necessary for Africa to articulate ways to improve on air transport
system on the continent in line with such identified needs.
