FEW years after the American government bailed out General Motors in reaction to the global economic meltdown the company has continued to take advantage of the gesture by churning out new models of Chevrolet and Isuzu trucks to admiration of enthusiasts but the same cannot be said of the Nigerian government as all the assembly plants operating in the country have either closed shop or resorted to importation of fully built up vehicles.
The Isuzu trucks, Pick-Up and Chevrolet have since the intervention enjoyed market boost and a representative of the dealer in Nigeria,” Intermotors” confirmed the market penetration after the initial lull.
Focusing on the Pick-Up and the Low roof van marketed by Intermotors stable, it is a Double Cabin vehicle that features inner cargo hooks, parking brakes, 2.4 petrol engine and dial-type air conditioner, five speed transmission and adjustable shoulder anchor.
The only difference between the basic Pick-Up model and the Low Roof Van is the latter is covered and the latter is open at the rear.
As for the Alpha and Stainless Bull Bar, they boost of Coat Hook, collapsible steering column, adjustable shoulder anchor front and rear [front/rear] and rigid vehicle body' child proof rear door locks and front towing hook.
The Stainless Bull Bar however has open roof whereas the Alpha is completely covered.
All the Pick Ups according to the manufacturer's manual come with three years warranty or 100,000 kilometers.
Also available are the Isuzu truck EXZ [GVM] which can carry a load of 25,000kilogramme CYZ [GVM],that can load 26,000 kilograms, and EXR [GVM] 18 kilograms load.
The aerial platform truck as the name depicts is used to fix aerial street lights.
Intermotors according to the representative have branches in Lagos, Warri, Kano, Bauchi, Ibadan, Benin Port-Harcourt and Abuja, Calabar and Kaduna.
He said that there technicians that can provide repair and maintenance services in all the branches of the company.
