DESOPADEC rates higher than NDDC — Youth leader

THE Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) is rated higher than the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC) in terms of developmental strides.

Making this assertion at his country home in Udu, Prince Mykel Lota-Aroko, a youth activist, said, ''DESOPADEC is a young commission that just started a year and few months ago and had made a lot of impact on the people far better than NDDC that had been on ground for many years ago.''

He condemned certain agitations for the scrapping of DESOPADEC over allegations that it had become a ''conduit pipe for siphoning money.''

Lota-Aroko was of the view that ''DESOPADEC will transform the state in few years to come.''
This apart, he said, ''It is too early for any reasonable person to judge DESOPADEC at the moment because it is a young agency that needs some time to settle its administrative structure before thinking of developing the people”.
Buttressing his point he stressed that ''the citing of DESOPADEC liaison offices in the oil producing local government areas in the state is a good example that they want to impact on the lives of the people directly.'’
