Yuguda harps on dev of Science, Technology

COMMITMENT to the promotion of the study of science and technology is a cornerstone for the attainment of the Nigeria's Vision 2020 project which the federal government is pursuing as road map for the nation's transformation from a mere developing country to a continental giant.

This assertion was made by Governor
Isa Yuguda while addressing participants at the opening of national workshop on Functional Capacity Building in Technological and Vocational Education in Nigeria for Industrial Development.
The governor regretted that ''Nigeria is among the economically backward country because of its over-reliance on petroleum while neglecting the promotion of science and technological education since gaining independence in 1960.''

Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Garba Muhammad Gadi, the governor said'' Science and technology today has gone beyond the traditional boundaries of teaching metal and wood work development of a nation.''

He said the vision 2020 could only be realizable when the country “embraces the total socio-economic computer networking and Information Communication Technology development, generally, that propels the world today.'’
He challenged the workshop to come up with ways of sourcing adequate and sustainable funding of the study of science and technology, which he said Bauchi state under his administration was giving priority attention to.
